Replacing a brush roller
The roller is worn: the filament has lost its working geometry and cleaning quality has dropped. The task is to prepare data for a new roller so it fits without reworking bearings and drive.
What to check first
- The cause of wear: even filament wear or frame damage change the request.
- The condition of bearings and seats: replacing them is separate work.
- Unit documentation: a datasheet or drawing saves measurements.
Work sequence (editorial)
- Stop and lock out the equipment per plant procedures; work only on a de-energized unit.
- Take dimensions per the measurement map: diameters, lengths, seatings.
- Assess roller speed and rotation direction.
- Check section layout on a common shaft if the design is sectional.
- Compose the request text in the assistant and attach a photo of the unit.
Scenario limits
| Situation | What to consider |
|---|---|
| A belt-driven roller | Speed depends on contact; use nominal values and the belt speed tool caveats for estimates. |
| A sectional design | Check section widths and the shaft: layout limits are handled by the section layout tool. |
| A non-standard unit | See made-to-measure brushes: a request with the measurement map. |
