Brush and scraper remove material from the belt with different mechanics. The comparison makes sense for a specific unit with its own material, speed and space.

Different mechanics

A scraper works with one edge against the belt plane and is sensitive to relief and pressing accuracy. A brush works with many elastic bristles that reach into roughness; on a patterned belt the brush is often more tolerant of geometry. Belt wear is a matter of testing and manufacturer documentation, not a general rule about “what is softer”.

Combinations in practice

On difficult materials combinations occur: a pre-scraper followed by brush finishing, or the reverse. The unit composition is chosen by the manufacturer from request data. When comparing methods, record the unit conditions identically — otherwise the conclusion is about different tasks, not methods.
