Brush peripheral speed
The nominal peripheral speed of the filament at the outside diameter, from the roller speed. Local calculation with an explicit formula.
Enter the diameter and speed — the result will appear here.
Formula
v = π · D · n, where D is in metres and n in revolutions per second; the result v is in metres per second.
- D — brush outside diameter, mm → m
- n — roller speed, rpm → rps
- v — peripheral speed, m/s and m/min
Input is in millimetres and rpm; the formula uses metres and revolutions per second — conversion is automatic.
Example
D = 150 mm, n = 1450 rpm → v = π · 0.15 · 24.167 ≈ 11.39 m/s ≈ 683 m/min.
Limits
- The calculation is nominal: it ignores pressing force, filament wear and actual slip.
- Whether the speed suits the application is a question of technology and the manufacturer, not of this calculation.
- Diameter decreases with wear — at the same speed n the peripheral speed falls.
Caveat:A kinematic estimate with an explicit formula. Not a recommendation of regimes or an allowed cleaning speed.
