Belt speed from the pulley
The nominal belt speed from the drive pulley diameter and its rotation speed. Local calculation with an explicit formula.
Enter the diameter and speed — the result will appear here.
Formula
v = π · D_eff · n, where D_eff is in metres and n in revolutions per second; the result v is in metres per second.
- D_eff — drive pulley effective diameter, mm → m
- n — pulley speed, rpm → rps
- v — belt speed, m/s and m/min
Input is in millimetres and rpm; the formula uses metres and revolutions per second — conversion is automatic.
Example
D = 500 mm, n = 120 rpm → v = π · 0.5 · 2 ≈ 3.14 m/s ≈ 188 m/min.
Limits
- The estimate is nominal: it ignores belt thickness changes, slip and lagging wear.
- The result serves as orientation for the contact tools, not as a setting for the drive.
- For a loaded conveyor the actual speed may differ; measurement or documentation has priority.
Caveat:Kinematics with an explicit formula, without technological conclusions about cleaning regimes.
