Sectional brushes

A sectional brush is a set of identical sections mounted on a common shaft. Sections tile the working length; a worn section can be replaced without touching the rest, at the cost of joints between sections.

Section rhythm on a shaft: section width, working length, joints.

Variants

Fixed sections

Sections clamped on a shaped shaft or by through bolts; replacement requires partial disassembly.

Split sections

Two-part sections mounted without removing the shaft; the joint line must match the load.

Mixed layouts

Full sections with spacer rings or end elements; the layout is recorded in the request.

Dimensions to check

Parameters for a sectional brush request

ParameterWhat to state
Section widthAxial width of one section and the tolerance between sections.
Working lengthTotal covered length and how joints are distributed along it.
Section diameterOutside diameter over filament and bore or seating on the shaft.

Limits and caveats

  • Joints between sections leave narrow gaps; the practical effect depends on the material and the belt.
  • Section layout is integer geometry — see the section layout tool, not an installation instruction.
  • Mixing sections from different manufacturers is not assumed compatible.
Versus a roller brush: A roller brush is one continuous working surface; a sectional brush trades continuity for replaceability. The comparison is editorial: the choice belongs to the engineer and the manufacturer.

Measure the section width and the covered length; the section count is integer geometry.
